Crossbreed
Drum and bass tempo and breakbeats mixed with hardcore kicks and heavy distortion.
History
Crossbreed mixes drum and bass with hardcore techno and gabber s1. It appeared in the Netherlands in the 2000s s1s2. The music keeps the speed and breakbeats of drum and bass s1s2. On top of that it adds hardcore's long, distorted kick drums s1. The result is loud and industrial s1. Tempos are usually about 170 to 190 beats per minute s1. This is close to drum and bass speed s2. Artists such as The Outside Agency, Counterstrike and Current Value are central to the style s2. The label PRSPCT Recordings releases a lot of crossbreed s2. The sound is played at both hardcore and drum and bass events s1. It is a small scene, but it connects two large dance music crowds s1. Crossbreed producers often use dark, metallic sounds and heavy bass s2. The style is also called crossbreed drum and bass because of its speed s1.
