Full-On
High-energy Israeli psytrance with rolling basslines and big melodies.
History
Full-on is a high-energy form of psytrance s1. It developed in Israel in the late 1990s s1s2. The music has a fast, rolling bassline, big melodies and a dense mix s1. Tempos are usually around 140 to 148 beats per minute s1. The style takes some influence from radio-friendly dance music and Eurodance, and it sometimes uses electric guitar or vocals s1. The name comes from the idea that the music is played 'full on' at the peak of a party s2. Artists such as Astrix, GMS and 1200 Micrograms became well known for it s3. Related styles include twilight and night full-on, which are darker, and morning full-on, which is lighter s1. Full-on was very popular at outdoor festivals in the 2000s s1. Producers still make the style, though newer forms of psytrance have grown alongside it s2. Many full-on records are made for the main stage of outdoor festivals s1.
