History

Warehouse techno is a name used from around 2011 for a British revival of hard, rave-influenced techno s1. Young producers mixed the force of 1990s techno and rave records with modern production s1. The tracks often use broken beats, loud drums and rough, sampled sounds s1. Blawan, from London, became one of its widely known producers s2. His track 'Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage?' (2012) is a good example. It has a heavy broken beat and a strange vocal s1. Randomer's 'Bring' (2014) and Karenn's 'Kind of Green' (2014) were also widely played s1. The music was made for small, dark clubs and warehouse parties rather than large festivals s1. The name warehouse techno comes from the parties where it is played, not from a single sound s2. The style was shared through small London labels and played at parties in warehouses and basements. It later influenced parts of the UK bass and techno scenes s1.
