Future House
A 2010s style that mixes deep house warmth with a metallic, bending bass sound.
History
Future house began around 2013 s1. It took the warm feeling of deep house and added a new kind of bass sound. This sound is often called a talk-box or metallic bass, and it bends and talks s1. The Dutch producer Oliver Heldens's 'Gecko' (2013) was an early and very popular example s1. The French producer Tchami's 'Promesses' (2014) showed the same style with a gospel-style vocal s1. Don Diablo's 'AnyTime' (2015) was another widely played track s2. The name future house was mostly used by listeners and download stores rather than by the artists s2. The style was common from about 2014 to 2017 and influenced bass house and later dance-pop s1. It is still played, though less often than at its peak s2. The style was especially popular in the Netherlands and was played at both clubs and festivals. Many tracks were released as free downloads before an official release s1.
